I am an addict.
Bought this '87 Suzuki Samurai. Actually, went halfers on it with dad. My half was roughly equivalent to a the cost of a good quality pair of shoes or a bus ride to Tillsonburg... either one of which would have been a lot more sensible.
Aaaah but I couldn't resist its charm... a working 12V winch, a great 4 x 4 system, fair brakes, at least a couple passable tires, and a mouse nest. Rusty, gusty and musty. How could I go wrong? Well...
The plan thus far is to do the least amount of work required to get it to pass inspection at the most dubious back-country garage I can find. Once it's on the road, I intend to mete out the worst vehicular abuse I have ever dreamed of.

In all fairness to the beast, it's a great little rig. It starts at the flick of the key, the 4 x4 works really well, and nearly all the lights work. It's been stored in a barn every winter since '95.. so the rust is pretty much superficial. Nothing a can of spray foam insulation and a couple coats of Tremclad can't fix. Well, hide anyway.
Update:
Total investment since puchase:
-$12.63... fan belt.
Still needs:
-jury-rigged exhaust, assembled from Greta the Jetta (RIP) remains
-set of mismatched tires from the Buyer Flyer
-horn from 18 wheeler
-battery pinched from Greta the Jetta (RIP)
